Job Summary
The Institute of Humanities at ShanghaiTech University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor. These positions are full-time fixed-term one-year appointments that are renewable and possible to become tenure-track positions that are eligible for promotion in rank. We are looking to hire candidates with expertise in Foreign Languages & Literature (British literature, American literature, German literature, French Literature, Japanese Literature, and Classics). Candidates will teach all undergraduate courses, part of which will meet the degree requirements of a nascent BA program, over both regular and one-month summer semesters. Candidates will also have the opportunity to develop new courses based on their own teaching and research expertise. We are looking to hire for a January 1, 2024 start date, but will consider applicants who can only begin July 1, 2024.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Foreign Languages & Literature (British literature, American literature, German literature, French Literature, Japanese Literature, and Classics) or relevant field conferred prior to January 2024.
Demonstrated excellence teaching classes at the undergraduate level.
Preferred
· Demonstrated excellence in scholarship
· Experience mentoring students with English as a foreign language
