Designed for students of intermediate proficiency in English, this course will offer an introduction to the History of South Asia of the period between 1945-2005. Major events such as the Dissolution of the British Empire, the Partition of India, the Civil War in Pakistan/ the Making of Bangladesh in 1971, and Islamization in Pakistan will be discussed.

个人简介：Ritwik Ranjan has been educated in India and the United States. Situated at the crossroads of the Philosophy of History, the History of Ideas, and Literature, Ritwik's dissertation was awarded the ICHTH Doctoral Dissertation Prize (2018) by the International Commission for the History and Theory of Historiography. Ritwik assisted undergraduate teaching in the departments of History,Near Eastern Studies and Sociology at Princeton and subsequently he taught courses covering various themes in European and South Asian histories at the Indian Institute of Technology in Assam, India. Prior to joining ShanghaiTech University, Ritwik served as a postdoctoral fellow at New York University, Shanghai.
