Ritwik Ranjan has been educated in India and the United States. Situated at the crossroads of the Philosophy of History, the History of Ideas, and Literature, Ritwik's dissertation was awarded the ICHTH Doctoral Dissertation Prize (2018) by the International Commission for the History and Theory of Historiography. Ritwik assisted undergraduate teaching in the departments of History,Near Eastern Studies and Sociology at Princeton and subsequently he taught courses covering various themes in European and South Asian histories at the Indian Institute of Technology in Assam, India. Prior to joining ShanghaiTech University, Ritwik served as a postdoctoral fellow at New York University, Shanghai.
