What is the significance of literature in the era when ChatGPT can write stories? When The Three-Body Problem predicts the doomed future of humanity, how would writers comment on civilization? This lecture will focus on four aspects: historical stories in China and foreign countries, story patterns, creative writing, and the future of stories. The speaker will discuss fiction writing as a possible way to build an emotional community and explore the world, so as to provide reflections for contemporary readers.

Speaker Introduction
Zhang Yiwei is an associate professor of Chinese Literature at Fudan University and an advisor for the Creative Writing program. She has published more than 20 monographs and literary works. In 2022, she published a collection of stories entitled Sihe Ruyi and a research essay collection entitled Love Pass Journey to the West.
She has won Hong Kong Youth Literature Award, Taiwan Times Literature Award, United Literature Award, and Taipei Literature Award, and was nominated for Maodun Literature Award.
