Summary:What distinguishes the beginning of Dream of the Red Chamber from those of other traditional Chinese novels? If you were the author, how would you start this masterpiece? In this workshop, we will closely read and compare the beginning of this novel in different editions, watch its film adaptations, and write a beginning for it on our own.
