Abstract:
As a famous divine figure in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Fu Daishi attracted much attention from the academic circle.
Based on previous studies, this paper studied part of the the Quotations of Shanhui Dashi, a series of practice-oriented Buddhist literature in the late Southern Dynasty, represented by the Fu dashi order. Analyzed the internal classic the Tingshui Sutra and the most notable sacrifice activities of the order, outlined the Dharma Extinct thought embodied in the order's belief activities.
By discussing the inner rationale of Buddhism practiced by the Fu dashi order and the social environment at that time, this paper argues that the long-held academic view that the practice of self-redemption is a form of Buddhism that developed from north to south is somewhat inaccurate. The faith activities of the Fu dashi Order demonstrated the self-consciousness of this type of Neo-Buddhism from the South.
