Speaker: Mher Sahakyan, Ph.D., Associate Professor. He graduated from the School of History and Institute of International Relations at Nanjing University. After graduation, he established the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research (CECPSR) under the Armenian Academy of Social Sciences and serves as its Founding Director. He has also taught and conducted research at multiple universities and institutes. He maintains close academic ties with scholars of international relations from Chinese universities including Fudan University and Renmin University, as well as institutions in Russia, the UK, Germany, Austria, and Turkey.
Abstract: In the era of multipolar world order 2.0, the Russia-Ukraine War and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict led to changes in Russia's political status and influence in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Other extraterritorial powers adjusted their policies in these regions accordingly based on their respective geostrategic goals and limitations. This lecture will introduce the background, situation and possible trends of contemporary geopolitics in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
