This land of magnificent mountains and rivers has nurtured the world’s only great civilization that has remained unbroken and continued as a unified state to the present day. What are the underlying threads that have enabled Chinese civilization to endure and continue to develop? How far back can the origins of this ancient civilization’s remarkable resilience and vitality be traced? How did the pluralistic yet unified Chinese nation take shape?
