Abstract

Will civilizations ever be interrupted? Can an interrupted civilization be revived? Are there any civilizations in the world that have never been interrupted? What are the fundamental reasons for the uninterrupted continuity of Chinese civilization? These questions are of great significance to the destiny of humanity and represent major issues that cannot be overlooked. Guided by the aforementioned questions, this lecture focuses on the key cultural factors underlying the uninterrupted continuity of Chinese civilization. It outlines the general characteristics of ancient civilizations around the world, analyzes the distinctive features of Chinese civilization's continuity, and elucidates the profound significance of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Speaker

Yang Gongle, Professor at the School of History, and Director of the Research Center for Historical Theory and Historiography at Beijing Normal University. In recent years, he has primarily been engaged in teaching and research in the fields of comparative Chinese and foreign history, ancient world history, and ancient Roman history. He has published more than 10 monographs and translations, and nearly 150 academic papers.
